The signature event of Hometown Holidays! Watch festive floats, decorated vehicles, community groups, and holiday characters light up downtown Sioux Center as they spread Christmas cheer throughout the community.

Each year, Sioux Center residents help transform the community into a holiday wonderland through the House Lighting Contest. Homeowners are invited to showcase their creativity and Christmas spirit by decorating their homes with festive lights, displays, and seasonal décor.

Community members can tour the participating homes, enjoy the festive displays, and vote for their favorites. From classic elegance to over-the-top holiday spectacles, the contest is a fun way to celebrate the season and spread joy throughout the community.

There are three ways to win!
• Peoples Choice - Voted by the Community
• Judge's Choice - Selected by our panel of judges
• Luck of the Draw - Randomly chosen from all remaining entries

The Hometown Holidays Coloring Contest is a festive tradition that invites children and community members to share their creativity and holiday spirit. Participants can pick up a coloring sheet from participating businesses or download one online, then submit their completed artwork for a chance to win prizes.

The contest encourages creativity, provides a fun holiday activity for families, and showcases the artistic talents of local youth. Entries are displayed for the community to enjoy, helping spread Christmas cheer throughout Sioux Center.

Experience the magic of Christmas while making a difference in our community. Hosted by Peoples Bank at Heritage Village, Christmas for a Cause features a beautiful walk-through Christmas light display that has become a favorite holiday tradition for families throughout Northwest Iowa.

As visitors stroll through the illuminated grounds of Heritage Village, they can enjoy festive decorations, seasonal activities, and the warmth of the holiday season in a charming historic setting. During Hometown Holidays weekend, guests can also participate in special activities such as gingerbread house voting, crafts, cookie decorating, visits with Santa, and other family-friendly events.

What makes Christmas for a Cause truly special is its mission. Each year, Peoples Bank partners with a local nonprofit organization, with all freewill donations supporting that year's featured cause. Since its launch in 2021, Christmas for a Cause has helped raise thousands of dollars for local organizations while bringing the community together to celebrate the season.

Whether you're enjoying the lights, warming up with hot chocolate, participating in activities, or supporting a worthy cause, Christmas for a Cause is a meaningful way to experience the spirit of giving during Hometown Holidays.

A brand-new addition to our Hometown Holidays weekend—get ready to battle it out on the ice in a fun, fast-paced broomball tournament just for our local business community!

Team Info:

• Minimum 7 players per team
• 6 players + 1 goalie on the ice at a time
• Larger teams welcome—substitutions allowed
• Games consist of two 10-minute halves
• Registration Fee: $25 per team
